The Future of Stabilisation
9 Items
Stabilisation, both as a concept and a category of international engagement, has been increasingly discussed and operationalised in recent years. Governments and international organisations such as the United Nations have established missions, departments and other institutions under the banner of stabilisation. However, what is stabilisation, and what has been learnt about fostering stability in environments affected by conflict, widespread criminal violence and other challenges in recent years? Furthermore, where is stabilisation headed, and what can be done to maximise its effectiveness in promoting peace and stability? These questions and others are addressed in this series, which has been launched with the support of the UK government's Stabilisation Unit.
